Frijj & Music

Konnichiwa!

So, back to lectures. This has been extraordinarily entertaining. I now have a new lecturer for every single module apart from the one. That Heather...

And it has - as expected - not been a pleasant first week of semester two! I say this because of the ABSURD chemistry lab sessions, which are similar to those of a different module and took place last semester: they suck. They suck because once again nobody has any idea what they are supposed to do. At all. There is a microscopic light at the end of the tunnel as the person who actually runs the thing was present on the second day and was of great assistance.

But seriously, fix it.

Semi-rant over. What else has taken place... Exams are still over! Wonderful... The weather has been sucky. I finally got around to watching Enter The Void. I couldn't watch the entire 2.5+ hours of it but I was able to watch enough. Disturbing and visually brilliant. That is all.

Another interesting event from the week was the dickery displayed by some of these new lecturers. (And yes, I am aware I should have stuck this paragraph after the first but what the hey.) Especially one whose name I don't remember and do not want to look up. He dropped the f-bomb twice which were amusing, yes, but there was clearly a creepiness to the whole thing. And let's not even forget that other lecturer who continued the lecture last week in the dark when the lights decided to randomly die. That was interesting...

Oh, and the timetable has been an utter mess as well. Especially this coming Tuesday. 9:00 start, 17:00 finish, with a 1 hour break somewhere in between. Insane.

I miss cereal.

....This is because my refusal to buy milk as I did indeed take up Tesco's offer of reduced Frijj milkshake. Damn them and their fake elitism. I should return to going to the Co-op. Even if the cashiers are evil.

Nonetheless, damn you all for charging for carrier bags.

And now, time for 10 of my 20 favourite music albums from 2010. I will most likely reveal the remaining 10 in the next post. They are...
All Night Chemists - "Meet Me Again". A splendid album that shows just how well-produced independent music can be. And this has nothing to do with me studying chemistry - that would be very Lund.
Brett Harris -  "Man of Few Words". Nothing particular to say here other than this is a great, well-rounded album which you should all acquire and enjoy! You can even get it for free so just...do it!
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - "The Social Network OST". It was so bizarre watching this masterpiece film whilst also noticing the clearly brilliant music aiding each scene. I'm not particularly a fan or care for film music despite acknowledging its great importance but this was something that simply could not be ignored.
Maroon 5 - "Hands All Over". (The album art may be deemed distasteful by many so I opted for this one instead.) Nothing but great excitement when I listen to any of the songs from this album. I always thought of Maroon 5 as one of my favourite bands. This album confirms it.
Peter Sobot - "A Story of Flight". This a sensational album. There, I've said it. Every track here sounds so different from the last yet here is a musician with a clear sense of style, energy and substance. I won't mention anything about Peter Sobot as a person here in this post because the music is capable enough of cementing a deep view of how talented this artist is.
Beach House - "Teen Dream".

Painted Palms - "Canopy EP". From the opening track "All of Us" you just know you're in for quite the thrill ride. This is music like you've never heard it before. And trippy!
Mosquito Fleet - "All Those Who Wander Are Not Lost".

Best Coast - "Crazy For You". I guess I'm still a fan of so-called "surf-rock/pop". Damn you for being so good Real Estate...

Purple - "The Purple Record". I know nothing else of this duo other than the two names appearing at the bottom of the link provided and that they're possible Berkeley University students. But the number of plays registered for "The Nymph Song" on my iPod are incalculable. To an extent...
I did something today I usually reserve for never: I stayed in bed until...well, for some time. This was in honour of Hummus. You have no idea what this means to her...! (Note: this is a good thing!)

Listen to? Anything from the above list. Links have been provided on the album art/artist names.

Wet dreams.

Emad.

yey, no more exams!
Can't you but Frijj on your cereal? It's a milkshake, isn't it? It would be like the Weetabix challenge!
Is it bad that I haven't heard of 9/10 bands that you listed...
Good luck with Tuesday. I suggest coffee. Lots of it.

Your lab sessions sound hilarious and not too different from the ones I remember at Hecky :P
Ah yes, our collectively shit Tuesday. What fun that shall be! :D
Cereal is disgusting, but I'm intrigued by ICs suggestion of trying Frijj on it...
Naturally I have listened to several tracks from the albums, and have spazzed at some of them but I can't remember which ones, so a semi-yay for the time being!
And FULL YAY FOR LIE-INS. I am indeed honoured :D
