The Long Awaited Post Which Ultimately Is....You Know, Just Another Post

Aloha!

WOW. Where to begin. Naturally, with the Oscars.

Seriously? (Nevermind the ceremony itself, that was utterly shite.) Of this year's ten best film nominees, I have seen (so far): 127 Hours, Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Social Network and the eventual best film winner. I can say with complete confidence every one of those films (and most likely the others which I am yet to watch) are much, MUCH better than the bore that was The King's Speech. SERIOUSLY?! Jees.

Which brings me to say that there is no point in me making a list of my favourite films of the past year when I can tell you the numbe one spot is the same as the top spot of other (sane) people: The Social Network.

Moving on. I received my exam results! And they were pretty good. Which is a good thing. I felt that the main thing going against me in the exams was the simple fact I haven't been tested academically in any way for a year, so hopefully this was a stepping stone to continuous improvement. Because this is a blog. Where people talk about their opinions and their goals in life and how they feel and...yeah, there's my sentimentality, ahem!

Having said that, two mid-terms took place this week. In fact, both on Monday. In fact, both back-to-back, 12:00-14:00. And they were brutal. But thankfully I've been getting some pretty darn good coursework marks which are providing some high nonetheless. Woo? Yes!

Next. The Liverpool lecturer is a YouTube person. He shows clips from the web which have nothing to do with the work but tries to relate it to the theory which is trying to teach. Yeah. No. Then again I despise physical chemistry, which brings me onto my next point...

I have chosen my modules for next year! Hopefully it all goes to plan. A brilliant thing about being the only person on my course is that I can, as the degree programme director says, "make my own regulations". So any optional modules which I reeeeally want to do? They can become compulsory and the university will have to timetable it for me regardless. WIN. I am looking forward to how painful the new "joinh honours" career development module will be next year. As well as metabolism. And practical biochemistry. But especially NO physical chemistry. So much fun.

Which brings me onto my next topic: open day! Yes, I volunteered/hired myself to help out with the open day which took place on Wedensday. Which was fun. Because the tour did not involve walking against strong winds and heavy rain near the end. I'm sure all those prospective students are withdrawing their offers now as we speak/I type.

I've blabbed on quite a bit but of course so much has taken place in the past month. The beginning of yet another work frenzy (though I finally conquered the chemistry lab reports very late at night yesterday, YAY!), the progression of life and the new, deeper interest into podcasts. I have no idea why I listen to them - some of them are great though. Doug Loves Movies, The Nerdist, This American Life and of course, The Guardian's Football Weekly. Ahem. I even have/had one or two from Piers Morgan's CNN (shite) show because yes, Charlie Sheen was a guest not so long ago. Ah dear. That man needs help. Along with Hummus. Those are the two people I really want to help. (And no, no "how dare you" comments, THANK YOU!)

Despite the temporary hiatus of all major shows, one (finally) started its third season: Parks & Recreation! And I am glad I have converted you Hummus.

Roger Dodger is brilliant, with a truly superb cast led by Campbell Scott.

It's Kind of a Funny Story is much better than the reviews I have read but there's one thing I instantly noticed before reading those reviews which mentioned the same thing: Zach Galifianakis is utterly amazing in this! Yes, THAT comedian, in terms of his acting in this film. Wow. Take a peek yourselves some time soon.

Interesting tech news? Think I'll pass over iShite 2. But Nokia and Microsoft! Wow, very much looking forward to my upgrade. (I hate you HP. I'm with you now Saf, even though it's still the best OS.)

Listen to? Lullatone - "Elevator Music", the entire album. So much fun listening to the whole thing. And it's free, so you really have no excuse people. The link is there in the name. DO IT!

Wet dreams.

Well done for passing! Don't worry, it's all uphill from here.
The King's Speech was an awesome film! Don't diss. It doesn't need a cool storyline or multiple special effects to be an oscar winner, it just has to be human. And The King's Speech was the most human of them all. Sorry for the rant...
Sounds cool how you get to regulate your own course!
Looks like I'm going to have to watch Parks and Recreations...
:D

Danke! Ja, I think it's a matter of getting into an exam "groove" again etc.
Nooooo! It's totally fine if you think that. I just decided to avoid "reviewing" the film because I would have had to mention how I almost went to sleep whilst watching it (seriously, it's so boring! Lol) =P
What would you change in your medicine course so far, if anything?
And watch Parks & Recreation ASAP!
=D

What would I change in my medicine course...um...better anatomy teaching (no sure how, just better), more anatomy demonstrators in prosection, trying to stop whole topics being repeated in lectures, um...more clinical exposure...
Just saw the trailer for Parks and recreation on youtube. It looks...interesting...but I'll give it a shot!
:D

Hello!
Inception was robbed. This is all there is to it. To a slightly lesser extent, so was the Social Network :P
That picture makes me shudder though ¬_¬ Seriously. It's not the feet so much as the sandals/flip flops *URGH*
Yay for exam results! :D
Lol! Totally know what you mean by Youtube people. Several lecturers have evidently just discovered it ¬_¬
Oh, I need help, do I?! How- *refrains* Ahem. I am in no immediate need of assistance, dammit.
Ohh, from the picture I've finally realised what 'Its kind of a funny story' is! Watched the trailer a while back.
Loving the elevator-y music :P Wish they played that in our building, lol.
*waaaves*! :)

@A - Not only more demonstrators but also that they actually help! They do get paid for it after all! >_<
And again, watch it ASAP! =P

@Hummus - Well they didn't even nominate Nolan for directing Inception so that's a whole other issue! Lol, fools! And I think you are in need of immediate assistance (it's not your fault etc lol). And ja, I think I'm going to put that music on my iPod and always use elevators now (despite being a huge fan of stairs lol).
