The Easter Break Which Is Simply Not a Break Whatsoever!

Konnichiwa!

Wow, it's been a while! Where to begin...!

Well university continues to be challenging, fun, interesting and altogether hard work. But it's going well so far! I think...!

Two really annoying chemistry tests took place in which pretty much everyone didn't exactly shine. There was also the very interesting non-biochemistry test which wasn't graded in any way but I attended so I could obtain the answers in order to have a mark scheme when I do the test in my own time during revision. So forward thinking, woo! ...

...And then more chemistry labs have started. OUCH. These are going pretty well for the fact that experiments are being set up, and during the 30-50 or so minute waiting time, general catching up and conversation takes place with those around me. And by that I mean my lab partner. And we have yet to fully even screw up an experiment so ha to you! Whoever you are...

What else... The inorganic guy is annoying. Aaaand... Well, you know, biology and chemistry. What more is there to say! Oh, the statistics is great as 50% of the module is assessed by coursework and the remaining half by an exam. Of the 3 (out of 5) pieces of coursework marked so far, I am totally rocking it! Etc. (I'm cool, so I'll try to use such terms...) Moving on...

Easter! The break! Or so they say. I had a terrible cough in the final week beginning last Monday on the 28th of March and trying out various cough medicine until I decided it was all pointless and I should leave for Easter a day earlier than intended. So I've been back since last Thursday - virtually a week!

I've been catching up with my Xbox... Look, it's not childish or anything, it's very serious these days! The gaming industry is worth so much more than the music or even the film industry these days! So ha! Ahem...

Work will be commencing very soon. But what's been incredibly annoying (although it seems to have finally died down) is the Asian thing of "oh, we're just visiting and won't leave for another 2 hours" unexpected visits. WHY! Please stop! Thank you! But we all do it... I say "we", I mean "you" etc...! Ahem!

New layout! So cool, right?! Blogger really have got their act together in allowing blogs to offically to look good. HINT HINT, you person out there reading this...! Yes, you! Change yours! ...To the same one I have! Or let me choose!

I (finally) watched "Saving Private Ryan" thanks to someone's request. And wow, is that film good or what. Damn you Tom Hanks for still being a brilliant actor. BUT! I watched "The Thin Red Line" a day or so ago, which was released the same year and was also an awards-y film but is usually always overlooked. And WOW, why the hell is it! I think I'm in the (smaller) "The Thin Red Line" is better camp. It's just so brilliantly shot! Even if Jim Caviezel is in it, whose face, yes, pisses me off (and many of yours I suspect). (Note: I'm occasionally allowed to act like I have hundreds and thousands of readers! But I am aware the number probably isn't even in double figures...!)

On Sunday I was able to watch some of the Power Rangers Movie! "OMG" etc. So yes, enough on that because it's such an important childhood memory to many of us.

Oh, I downloaded Max & The Magic Marker for the iPod! Woo! It's such a fun game which I already have on PC. You should all get it! And then tell me how to get past that one damn level which I can't get through. Here comes YouTube help...!

And then there's Limbo! Finally had the courage to buy it on Xbox Live. Very eerie. And I also bought Beyond Good & Evil! One of my all-time favourites. Okay I'll stop now because I can actually see you're all about to bang your heads onto your keyboard because I'm putting you to sleep.

I have finally started reading Lloyd Jones' amazing "Mister Pip" for a second time! I still can't believe I've only read it once but remember so much. Including that one particular sentence which we all remember because it's so disturbing and horrible for the storyline. Yes Hummus, THAT one!

I think we can call that a post, phew! Did it suck? Oh I don't know, it's past 1am! "Gimme a break" etc.

Oh wait, also watched "Hot Fuzz", again by someone's recommendation. A very good film, but I won't go into it because I know the whole planet/many people have already seen it. And my recommendations of "Into The Wild" and "Garden State" have been successful! TOLD YA etc. Thank you HMV for £3 DVDs... I intend to go there soon. And how good is "Shattered Glass"! Always wanted to watch it but never got around until I saw it on the wonderful iPlayer. AND "The Usual Suspects"! How have I only seen this film once! So good! Woo!

Still such a great song!

Oh, and the George Foreman compact grill is a charm. Hello paninis!

Sweet dreams.

Emad.

First off, totally loving the Reliant K :D Though I feel the silver lining one should be posted just for its significance.
OUCH to labs and the fact that you seem to have a test every week :| (And please try not to say things like rocking it)
You had a fiend of a cough ¬_¬ BUT IT IS ALMOST DEFEATED.
PLAY LESS XBOX YOU SLOB.
I really do rather like the new layout, however flag-y. But mine's too awesome to change :D
And dammit, more people need to read Mister Pip!
Oh, it was a great post, but take more photos and upload them!! :D
*waaaves*

I saw Into the Wild and had to comment! It's such a stunning film, and it provokes so much debate - what more can you ask for? I'm glad you're spreading the word :D! But I'm always super careful about who I recommend great films/books/music to, lest they get obsessed and turn it into a big fat impersonal phenomenon :(! Anyway! I haven't seen Garden State because I'm a failure at life, but it's been in the back of my mind ever since I heard the soundtrack a couple of years ago and realised that Zach Braff starred @_@. Must add it to my Amazon wishlist!

Also, I agree; the Easter holidays are a total effing sham!

@Hummus: Relient K! So good! Well done on The Lining is Silver. TRAINS! =P Well I can have up to NINE hours of labs on some weeks, insane! And tests are just there to kill us every time we feel we're making progress!
And really? Use the word "fiend" when you clearly know how we use it already? DAMN YOU! =P I am not the slob who's slowly turning INTO A PIZZA! Exactly! So boom! I'm glad you changed yours also - well done! "Change is good" is the mantra now. Mister Pip = amazing. And yes, I shall include (more) photos actually taken by me, ja!
Hello! Okay this was long... =)

@Rosieee: Hello! Always read your blog - so glad you read mine also.
Totally with you on Into the Wild. It's so brilliant and it is one of those films you can talk about for hours. And yes, I know what you mean! When you like something that you feel is very personal to you and is suddenly ruined by someone else in some way. Oh no, Garden State is something you should get round to watching! And yes, the soundtrack. Come on, THE SHINS!
And ha! Yes, Easter "holidays" = as truthful as the words of a politician!
=P

Do you? Ab fab, sweetie darling! I may as well follow yours while I'm here!

Yes! And Into the Wild is even better for the fact it's true! It's weird, there's part of me that's totally rooting for Alexander Supertramp the whole time, and then there's another part that thinks he was incredibly arrogant/selfish and reckless. I feel obligated to read the book now!

Yep, it sucks eggs when something you love gets ruined, and it sucks even more that you have no legal claim over it that would enable you to legitimately hit people in the face with a frying pan every time they mentioned it in your vicinity :(!

I agree, The Shins are bloody marvellous, but I was thinking of Let Go by Frou Frou. It's totally hypnotic @_@.

LOL, well, I don't know much about politics, but I am with you on that one! I really shouldn't complain though, since I'm now officially off until the middle of September :D!

Yes! Your posts are cool and interesting. And damnit, I always say I should do the "official" following thing but I always forget! *Makes note to do this* =P

And ja, it's really a strange experience to watch because of it. And oh dear, totally not intending to read the book soon knowing he dies! But the worst moment is when (spoiler alert) Hal Holbrook's character asks if he can adopt him. *INTERNAL PAIN!* Ahem.

Haha! You're absolutely right about wanting to get violent or just create an argument. Damn the people who hate what we love!
I agree, the final song is what makes the soundtrack so complete. But you know...The Shins!! =D

And you should note some people will now be despising the fact you're off until December. *INTERNAL PAIN AGAIN!*
=P

Oh fanks! I always feel dead thick reading you lot's blogs cause you're all like life-savers in training and I'm some flouncy art student!

Omiholygod, I KNOW! That is the most painful moment in life. And worse cause it's true :(. I think my favourite moment is when Chris says to Tracy something like 'Whatever you want in life, reach out and grab it' and then she reaches out and GRABS HIM :(!!! Man, that movie is non-stop heartache. If it wasn't for Vince Vaughn and the cinematography, I doubt I would ever have got through it in one piece O_O.

I believe my first introduction to The Shins was via Gilmore Girls... God bless soundtracks!

As for being off for five and a half months, if it's any consolation, I have exams to fail between now and then :D!

Oh nein, the world needs art! =P
I finally rewatched the film and wow, it is powerful stuff! Forgot how good Vince Vaughn is but nein, the most painful part has to be when Catherine Keener talks about her son and then asks Emile Hirsch's character if his parents know where he is. >_<!

And damnit, I have 3 weeks of lectures after Easter and THEN exams. Pfft! =P

Hi Emad,
Amazing, as per usual! And the making if official blog reading thing - you really need to. Please. Just to stroke my ego a little and put my number of followers up to 3!
Rosie - lifesavers! If someone collapsed infront of me now I really wouldn't have a clue about what to do.
:D

Rosieee said...

...Okay, I...I fail. I can't think of another sad moment to top that one. I need to rewatch this film O_O.

From a very vulnerable place, I agree with itscomplicated. Push the damn follow button!

Ahem.

Sorry in advance for using this to converse with someone else, but;

I don't believe that for a second. I bet you wouldn't forget the number for emergency services... which I have done on several occasions.

I'm out!

Sorry Emad, I'm hijacking (that's not how you spell that) your comments thread too.

Ok, maybe I wouldn't. I don't think you would either, if the situation called for it. But still, lifesaver is pushing it a wee bit far

Hi Emad
